Hello everyone! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I have enjoyed reading everyones posts. Jackie and Jacy- way to go on the January challenge. Maureen- so sorry to hear about your tendinitis. Hope it heals soon . Great to hear about the yoga you are doing .
In now in the hospital with my daughter, we’ve been hear since Monday and hope to be leaving by Friday evening. – Monday -I managed to get a 20 minute you tube cardio yoga before leaving for the hospital .Monday evening I did flo yo.
Tuesday I did cardio yoga in the morning. Tuesday pm I did the walk and talk about the January challenge then I tried very very hard to do I tried very very hard to do strength in stillness but had to tend to daughter. They took her off her meds Tuesday morning and she began having sezuire about the time I was 5 minutes into the routine . Her night was very rough and I abandoned the routine. She had a sezuire every time she would fall asleep until about 2am. Fortunately this is why we are here to capture and study her sezuires with different brainwave measuring devices.
Wendsday-This morning she had very powerful & scary sezuires that have worn her out . So no yoga. She slept until late afternoonafter them .It’s a good thing because they want her to stay up until at least 2am again tonight . She has one last test tomorrow morning that’s a bit tricky to time so the more seizures she has will increase the chances of a better test . We will be so happy to go home . I’m going to try to get in a yoga routine right now then it’s card games , crafts and a movie to keep my daughter awake .
I have been getting in 10,000-12,000 steps and My daughter is on the 11th floor .so Ive been taking the stairs and im happy to say that I’m getting in at least 30 to 45 flights a day !
A quick post from work. Gosh I’ve been tied up interviewing for 2 days and my workload back in the office just seems to have quadrupled. Day 3 I chose just the recommended Total Body training from Walkstrong 1, as that is one of my favourite workouts from this programme. Day 4 I am taking as my active rest day, as I prefer to take the rest day on one of my busy workdays and keep working out all weekend. Managing since the New Year to make around 11,000 steps at least each day. Jackie Mc – I am going to try and catch that fitness programme tonight on iplayer as that sounds very interesting – thank you.
Day 4 of the January Jumpstart Challenge and I began my day with the recommended Feel Good Fusion and as I didn’t have the other recommended routine I subbed Barefoot Cardio Core from WS3 which is always a wonderful routine to do.
As I am hiking tomorrow I won’t probably have time for any routine other than stretching when I get home so at lunchtime I did the 20 minute Barre Burn from the Barre Fitness DVD which is one of the recommended routines for Day 5. I love this routine and never get do it enough so today was a good opportunity to do it again.
During my afternoon break I have just done Dynamic Stretch from YouTube and I feel fantastic.
mholdsworth I am thinking of you and your family. Do check in if you have time 💪
Good job Jacy and Jackie:D You both are doing quite well on the January challenge. I, however, have some major acute Achilles tendinitis going on right now and can barely get through my workday as I stand the entire time. I have not been completely inactive, my husband started a challenge that involves quite a bit of yoga so I have been doing that. Need to stay off this foot as much as possible so I can hike, I have several winter hikes marked that I am interested in but right now couldn’t do any. Then weather here has also been fantastic for January, now snow and highs in the 50’s, that will change tomorrow as we will have a 20 degree drop in temperature but at least no snow, maybe snow this weekend as it is in the forecast.
Everyone keep up the great work 😀
mholdsworth hope all is going well<3
Jacy I do understand not knowing where to start yesterday. I felt like that too. I am so glad that the stretching and flexibility routine helped as it did me. I smiled when you mentioned checking the cottage pie in the oven. We had Shepherdess Pie on Sunday. I used green lentils and mixed vegetables rather than meat but I love it with the mashed potato topping and a small amount of cheese. Delicious warming comfort. HiiT for beginners was fun wasn’t it? I hope you enjoy today’s routines too.
Working from home has so many benefits, yes. However, I have to be careful to switch off at the end of the day and separate work and leisure. Also, it can get isolated too. That is why I try and get out and hike a few times a week so I get to meet new people and hike with my friends.
Tuesday and Day 3 of the January Jumpstart Challenge. I began my day with the recommended 30 minute total body strength training from YouTube. This is a really effective strength routine and my goodness I didn’t find it easy at all. I used 12llb as my heavy set and started with 10llb as my lighter set but changed down to my 3kilo set. It is a time under tension routine so Jessica doesn’t count reps (apart from the last 4). I reached fatigue by the end of each set and could really feel my muscles working hard especially in my upper body. To get the lactic acid moving and to get some steps in I wrapped up warm and went out for a lovely long walk around the coastline here. I got back home and at my desk before 10.00am but there was no time for a mid morning break. By lunch time I could feel my lower body as well as my upper body so rather than do the other recommendation I went out for another shorter walk this time up the hillside and around the villages. For my mid afternoon break I did one of the bonus stretching routines recommended for tomorrow. It was the 33 minute Dynamic Stretch Routine from Jessica’s new Total Stretch DVD. It was the first time I have done this routine and I really liked it. It is a gentle, flexibility stretching routine that is both relaxing and enjoyable. It has also done the trick with the walking in stretching out my muscles and I am feeling less tired too.
I don’t feel like going back to my desk however, I should put in another 30 minutes before starting dinner. Ho hum! But, then a relaxing evening ahead.
Jacy, have you seen The Truth About Getting Fit? I saw it on the BBC iplayer last night. Really interesting research about fitness and confirmation that everything we are doing with Jessica is spot on. I also got to find out why I enjoy exercise so much too! It seems it might be more than endorphins…😀😀
